Babies!

We've been graced with 28 new babies!  One even has feathers on its feet.  So excited!!

In with the New!

Greenhouse: Pre-Labor...Anxiously awaiting construction.  Until then, here she lies, in the driveway.

Popcorn!

Freshly harvested - time to let is sit & dry out.  Then it'll be ready for poppin!

Early Fall Market

Irene didn't get all of our produce, some things are still pumping.

Dwarf Sunflowers

Fall Transplants!

A little bit of everything for your Fall Garden!

 Red Leaf Lettuce
Green Leaf Lettuce

Romaine Lettuce

Harvesting Sweet Potatoes

First, rip out the sweet potato vines.  Then pull back the plastic & get the irrigation out of the way.  Next, carefully use a shovel and mine out the sweet potatoes...all 300 lbs. of them.

Eventually we busted out the tractor/plow and the process went so much faster!
Last step - rub the dirt off, grade them, and store upstairs to cure them (gets them sweeter).

Hurricane Irene

This was just down the road from our house, right beside the new 7-11 at the intersection of Rt. 258 & Great Spring Road.

This is the ole' greenhouse...it was on it's way out anyway (putting up a new one soon).  This PVC construction just isn't meant for hurricanes.
Our poor chicken house.  At least all the chickens survived!
Just on the other side of the dirt road in front of our house.
